LLMNetOps is an innovative project developed by Universitas Brawijaya in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically to support computer network operations in educational environments. The project received international funding of USD 30,000 from ISIF Asia, an initiative under the APNIC Foundation.

The main objective of LLMNetOps is to enhance human resource capabilities in managing network infrastructure by utilizing open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) that are deployed locally. This approach is particularly important because many educational institutions still face limitations in the availability of skilled professionals and gaps in technical expertise for network management.

In its implementation, LLMNetOps develops AI-based systems, such as an intelligent chatbot, capable of:

  • Analyzing network conditions in real time.
  • Providing solution recommendations when network issues occur.
  • Assisting network administrators in technical decision-making.

One of the key advantages of this project is the use of locally hosted AI models, which helps maintain the security and sovereignty of institutional data. In addition, this approach promotes safer AI adoption that is more relevant to local needs.

Beyond its technological focus, LLMNetOps also aims to build a learning community through training programs and collaboration among institutions, particularly members of the Indonesia Research and Education Network (IDREN). Through this initiative, the project is expected to accelerate digital transformation in Indonesia’s education sector.
