On November, 2024, three ICN Lab members, Ananda Fitra Diraja (Informatics Eng, 2021), Virgananta Saputra (Informatics Eng. 2022) and Rayhan Egar (Informatics Eng. 2022), attended an intensive training camp held by the Asia Pacific Internet Engineering Program (APIE) hosted by Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Yet another milestone as Nanda joined as the program’s network operation center (NOC) member. The five-day program was attended by students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Vietnam, Philippines and Japan. Instructors from USK, SOI Asia, APNIC, AWS and Lintasarta accompanied the students throughout the program.
During the camp, students work in groups to solve a daily project encompassing various aspects of internet engineering: network design and deployment, Linux basics and cybersecurity, virtualization, cloud solutions and Internet-of-Things.
###Day 1: Network Design and Configuration Participants explored the principles of effective network design and configuration to support optimal connectivity.
###Day 2: Server Installation and Virtualization Focus on the introduction and practice of server installation and virtualization concepts to support network infrastructure.
###Day 3: DNS Setup This day of training focuses on the Domain Name System (DNS) setup and configuration process for domain name management.
###Day 4: IoT and Cloud Computing (AWS) The material covers aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) and provides practical insights into cloud computing through the AWS platform.
###Day 5: Visit to Komdigi Aceh A valuable opportunity to visit Komdigi Aceh Datacenter to see things in action, as well as present the assignments that had been given.
The workshop provided a valuable experience that not only enriched the students' knowledge, but also opened up opportunities to expand their international network and to immerse in Aceh's rich culture and heritage. Stay tuned as we worked on hosting the upcoming Feb. 2025 APIE Camp in UB!
