The year 2024 saw another milestone on joint-research initiative in the field of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence implementation with the start of Community Based Research (CBR) CBR2 joint research project. CBR itself is a scheme for promoting multi-stakeholder collaborative research and inclusive support managed by SOI Asia and AI3 community to provide funding, project management, education and research outreach. This year, CBR2 joint research projects were carried out between Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Brawijaya University (UB), Syiah Kuala University (USK) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
CBR2 aimed for the implementation and experimentation of research platforms in multiple regions, including East Java, for real-time malicious Transport Layer Secure (TLS) traffic detection using machine learning classifiers. This research aims to develop an application to identify various types of TLS-based cyber attacks on servers in encrypted networks using machine learning techniques. The research process ran in collaboration between lecturers and students with Mr. Achmad Basuki, S.T., MMG., Ph.D as the lead. One of our members, Dzaki Rafif Malik (Informatics Eng. 2022) and Putri Zahratul Wahida (Informatics Eng. 2022) as the lab’s intern for this project partake as the student team involved.
